As our product, and company, has grown our Product and Engineering (P&E) team has naturally split into smaller groups to help contain product knowledge areas, ensure responsibilities are more defined and to ensure the velocity we are known for is kept at a high pace.

The smaller groups are split and defined by larger product areas;

Core

Overview

Hospitable’s customers - short-term rental hosts - rely on us to deliver personalized guest experiences at scale. Our growth and reviews speak for themselves, but we can’t sit on our laurels.

Our core platform - Inbox, Calendar, Guest Experience, Operations, and Apps - continues to expand in depth and breadth. API Connections to Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com (OTAs) require periodic improvement and maintenance. New connection vectors are on the horizon.

The core team focuses on maintaining and improving Hospitable’s core platform and OTA connectivity.

Direct

Overview

Hospitable’s “Direct” product is a big bet. It allows short-term rental hosts to create beautiful direct booking websites in seconds, automatically populated with their existing property information and photos. It is a separate, independently-billed product, but also deeply integrated into our core platform’s features such as Inbox, Calendar, Messaging, and Operations.

We’ve been working on our Direct product since Summer 2021, building in public, sharing updates openly with our customers bi-weekly, and rolling out features progressively. At the start of 2023 we began the release of our pilot to test the full functionality of our end to end booking flow with availability calendar, guest vetting, tax compliance, payment processing, and so much more! We are now preparing for Direct’s next phase.

Platform

The Platform team works on Connect, a product that enables industry partners (like noise monitoring device companies, dynamic pricing tools, etc) to focus on building incredible products for hosts without the risk that comes along with maintaining technically complex connections to OTAs. How? By delivering a simple connection flow for the end-user that results in access to data from their customer’s account on the OTA. This allows our partners to cast a wider net and attract hosts who do not use any PMS, but still want to take advantage of other technology available to them.

The Platform team has also expanded to cover incoming integrations through our Public API, focused on shipping the easiest, most developer friendly API in the industry and supporting integrations into our Core product to give hosts a single place to go to see everything needed to manage their properties.
